7 Things I Absolutely Love About Autumn!
As the air gets crisper and the leaves start to change, there's something undeniably magical about the arrival of autumn. It's a season that brings a whole host of delights, from vibrant colours to comforting smells, and everything in between. Let's dive into some of the quirky and fun things that make autumn my favourite season.
For me, Autumn is the season of crisp walks. I love walking the kids to school in the Autumn, filling our lungs with the crisp air, seeing the explosion of colours that paint the trees in shades of red, orange, and gold, the satisfying crunch and rustle of leaves underfoot. I find it rejuvenates both body and soul.
There's something about autumn that makes me want to get organised and start fresh. New notebooks, pens, planners, there's a special kind of joy that comes from cracking open a new notebook and filling its pages with dreams, plans, and doodles. It's a small pleasure, but one that can brighten even the gloomiest of days.
Ah, the smell of autumn! It's a delightful mix of crisp air, fallen leaves, and a hint of bonfire smoke. The aroma of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and apple cider wafting through the air is enough to make anyone feel warm and fuzzy inside.
There's something about autumn that makes comfort foods taste even more delicious. I love a steaming bowl of homemade soup, a jacket potato smothered in butter, a cosy bowl of cottage pie or a hearty stew. It's like a hug from the inside out.
Blankets have this magical ability to make everything better. I love to wrap myself up in a soft, fluffy blanket instantly transports me to a place of comfort and coziness. Team that with a lazy Autumn Sunday movie day, it doesn’t get much better than that.
Autumn is all about getting cozy, and what better way to do that than with a good book and a warm drink in hand. My Autumn favourites include a spiced latte, hot cider (with a splash of rum for a grown-up twist!), and camomile tea with cinnamon. Occasionally I may also have a cup of Bovril – it just reminds me of my childhood.
Of course, I couldn’t forget Halloween! The spooktacular holiday where we can dress up, indulge in sweet treats, and embrace our inner child. I love to carve pumpkins with the kids, we usually have a special Halloween themed meal and spend half term week watching ALL the Halloween films - Hocus Pocus, Coraline, Ghostbusters and The Nightmare Before Christmas are firm favourites!
So, as you embrace the delights of autumn, remember to take in the colours, enjoy the smells, and indulge in all the cozy comforts this season has to offer. It's a time to relax, recharge, and revel in the simple joys of life.
Happy autumn, everyone!
