I’m Andrea and I am the face behind Cheerful Geek.
I have always enjoyed all aspects of arts and crafts and I grew up surrounded by the general creative mess that goes with them. As a teenager I was always tinkering with new ideas and projects, and I loved planning things.
I studied Primary Teaching with Technology and Design at Reading University, but once I qualified, I only taught for a couple of years because I realised I liked the planning and creativity more than the teaching! I then found myself as a single parent trying to make ends meet, so I became a childminder and did creative jobs on the side, I made cakes, planned parties, created handmade invitations, paper projects and cards for friends.
In 2014, while my new husband and I were waiting for the arrival of our daughter, he brought home a stool he’d made in his joinery workshop and suggested I painted it. This was what I needed to start me on my creative business journey.
I finally started Cheerful Geek in 2016, when The Middle One was 2. The plan was to gradually build it up so I could go full time once she started school. Of course, the universe had different ideas and surprised us with The Littlest One! So, now I have three children, all girls, who are all incredibly unique and who provide me with lots of ideas for new products and themes. I run Cheerful Geek from our home in a small village called Holt, in North Wales.
I love spending my time being creative and I love making and designing thing that makes people smile. All my designs start with a simple idea, inspired by my love of quotes, nature and all things geeky, that is researched and played with until it becomes an unique card, a fun badge range or a lovingly created wooden product.
I'm always thinking up new ideas and creating new things that are just a little bit special. I hope you love what you find in the Cheerful Geek shop.
